Every week, Scott Davis and Austin Kennedy check out the latest, but not always the greatest films in the multiplexes. Everything from the biggest blockbusters, to the smallest indie films to the latest foreign films. Scott and Austin are film geeks by birth, keeping a critical eye on things, but bringing a lot of humor and energy to the proceedings as well. They don't always agree, but it's always entertaining.

  AND THE DUMBEST TITLE CHANGE OF THE DAY IS....
  

  I don't know if I can get behind this whole "make the sequel's title indistinguishable from the original's" way of doing things. Earlier this year, the fourth installment in the FAST AND THE FURIOUS series was called simply FAST & FURIOUS (you can listen to our review of that film and others here). Now, we have a title that is even dumber.
  
  A fourth FINAL DESTINATION film, this one in 3-D, comes out in mid-August. Former titles for the film were FINAL DESTINATION 4 (natch) and FINAL DESTINATION: DEATH TRIP 3-D. The title has been changed and it will now be called THE FINAL DESTINATION.
   
  Sooooo, FAST & THE FURIOUS takes away the "THE" and FINAL DESTINATION adds one. Still sounds like a lousy idea.
  
  
  

  
  

  
  Also, it apparently features a scene where someone gets sucked to death by escalator, I'm guessing.
  
  THE FINAL DESTINATION is directed by David Ellis, who also directed FINAL DESTINATION 2. He also directed SNAKES ON A PLANE and... er, HOMEWARD BOUND II. It stars Krista Allen, Nick Zano (JOY RIDE: DEAD AHEAD), Mykelti Williamson (CLOCKERS, AUGUST RUSH) and Bobby Campo (LEGALLY BLONDES). THE FINAL DESTINATION will come out on August 28th, where it will go against Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN sequel.
