Attention, film geeks! You know who you are! Film Geek Central is a new spin on the old review show. Scott Davis and Austin Kennedy have been published in various media outlets. Each of them also comes to the forefront with some knowledge about what it takes to make a great film, without the prejudice that weighs most shows down. More than anything, Film Geek Central is a new podcast, by film geeks and for film geeks.
Date / Time: 4/5/2009 4:10 AM UTC
What? it's just a tiny one-eyed thing getting jiggy underneath Reese Witherspoon. Totally harmless.
First up is the newest smash from DreamWorks Animation - MONSTERS VS. ALIENS. Featuring the voices of Reese Witherspoon, Seth Rogen and Keifer Sutherland, this has two things we love - monsters and aliens.
No kidding, those new Butterfinger Buzz bars will mess you up.
Next is the surprise horror hit, THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT. A family trying to care for a dying child moves into a house where some very angry ghosts reside. Virginia Madsen and was co-written by awesome documentarian and former Corman protege, Adam Simon.
Dammit, Earth! You're dribbling all over the credits! Wear a bib if you want to play in the big leagues.
Speaking of surprise hits, KNOWING stars Nicholas Cage as a man who discovers a document that has predicted every disaster for the last fifty years. Also on the list, Nicholas Cage's remake of THE WICKER MAN. The film is directed by Alex Proyas, who gave us THE CROW, DARK CITY and I, ROBOT.
See? Paul Rudd loves us. Let's get with those downloads, people!
In the newest comedy to feature split-offs from the Adam McKay/Judd Apatow resurgence, I LOVE YOU MAN stars Paul Rudd and Jason Segel as two guys who bond while one of them searches for his first male friend. Rashida Jones, John Favreau and Jamie Presley co-star.
I'm so James Bond. I'M so James Bond.
Used to be that everything Julia Roberts touched turned to gold. With DUPLICITY, she comes out of exile to co-star with Clive Owen in a film about ex-secret agents who try to play both sides in a game of corporate espionage. It's the second film from Tony Gilroy, who debuted with MICHAEL CLAYTON a couple years back.
Yikes! No wonder you're still single.
Scott (that's me) will also run through all eight films in the AFTER DARK HORRORFEST III set - that's AUTOPSY, THE BROKEN, BUTTERFLY EFFECT 3: REVELATIONS, DYING BREED, FROM WITHIN, PERKINS' 14, SLAUGHTER and VOICES. Whew.
All of that is on this week's show, which again is on at our NEW TIME of Sunday at 8:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.
As always, you can check us out live at BlogTalkRadio.
If you do miss us live - shame on you. But you can still stream the show later or even download it right to your hard drive.
