    • Comparison of Weight-Loss Diets with Different Compositions of Fat, Protein, and Carbohydrates

From The New England Journal of Medicine
    http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/full/360/9/859

They randomly assigned 811 overweight adults to one of four diets; the targeted percentages of energy derived from fat, protein, and carbohydrates in the four diets were 20, 15, and 65%; 20, 25, and 55%; 40, 15, and 45%; and 40, 25, and 35%. The diets consisted of similar foods and met guidelines for cardiovascular health. The participants were offered group and individual instructional sessions for 2 years. The primary outcome was the change in body weight after 2 years in two-by-two factorial comparisons of low fat versus high fat and average protein versus high protein and in the comparison of highest and lowest carbohydrate content.

Conclusion: Reduced-calorie diets result in clinically meaningful weight loss regardless of which macronutrients they emphasize.

    (Bottom line...just reduce your calories.)

    • Truvia the new sugar substitute, was added to the list of zero calorie sweeteners at the end of 2008. http://www.truvia.com/

I did a taste test with the top six sweeteners you’ll find at a restaurant or diner. I dissolved one packet of sugar into 8 oz. of water. I rated the six on a scale between 1 - 10, 10 being very sweet. Here is how I rated; pure sugar (7), Sweet ‘N Low (8.5), Equal (7.5), Splenda (8), Sugar In The Raw (6.5) and Truvia (9).

I also found Sugar In The Raw and Truvia dissolved the slowest.

    • HONEY FACTS

    http://www.honeyplace.com/honeyfacts.html

#1.  Honey is the only food produced by insects that is eaten by man!

#2.  The color and flavor of a honey differ depending on the bee's nectar source.  There are more than 300 different varieties of honey in North America.

#3.   Honey is primarily composed of fructose, glucose and water. It also contains other natural sugars aswell as trace enzymes, minerals, vitamins and some amino acids.

#4.  Honey is a natural energy restorer. Try drinking a teaspoon of honey mixed with warm water. This will not only restore your energy, but it will help your digestive track too!

#5.   Honey was the most used medicine in ancient Egyptian times.  Out of  more than 900 medical remedies  known about for that time, more than 500 were Honey based.

#6.   Honey will never spoil.  There is no need to refrigerate Honey it can be stored unopened, indefinitely, at room temperature in a dry cupboard.

#7.   Honey is full of natural antioxidants such as chrysin, pinobanskin, vitamin C, catalase and pinocembrin.

#8.   Honey is actually manufactured by the Honey Bee as a food source to sustain the hive through the winter when there are no flowers blooming for them to collect nectar.

#9.   Honey is 25% sweeter than sugar because of its high fructose content

#10.   Honey absorbs and retains moisture readily so baked goods will not dry out or become stale as quickly as products made with sugar.

    • FREE FOOD!
The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple....They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. Psalms 19:7 & 10 (New International Version)
