Longtime Tucson resident A.J. Schneller, Ph.D. is a lecturer in Environmental Studies at the School For Field Studies/Boston University in Magdalena Bay, Baja California Sur, Mexico. His past research in Baja worked to uncover the intergenerational outcomes of experiential environmental education involving endangered species of sea turtles. He also recently just finished research exploring how the vibrant sea turtle conservation movement in Baja Sur has instigated a new wave of public participation and environmental awareness in rural communities where sea turtle consumption has been highest. AJ owns an organic farm in the Baja community of Pescadero, near Todos Santos, and in his spare time surfs and camps on the many amazingly wild beaches of Baja. He will be sharing with us about the issue of turtle poaching and rampant seafood piracy. We'll be looking at why these issues are important to be aware of and the relationships of food demands, ocean pollution and various other topics of environmental concern. Come join us for this informative and stimulating show!
