Popular television shows like Ghost Hunters and Paranormal State capitalize on the morbid curiosity many people harbor about death. Audiences watch week after week trying to catch a fleeting glimpse of a spirit, hoping to gain some insight into the mysteries of the afterlife. Both frightening and compelling, dying remains the ultimate uncharted territory for humanity. But according to author Roberta Grimes, the truth about death isn’t all that mysterious—or frightening. Her new book, The Fun of Dying: Find Out What Really Happens Next! (Greater Reality Publications, 978-0-9802111-1-5, 2010, $14.95), explains what she says is the reality of what happens before, during and after death. Backed by evidence from scientists who study different aspects of death, Grimes breaks the complex process down so readers can overcome their fear of dying—and what happens after. “A century-and-a-half of detailed and consistent evidence makes it easy to piece together how death happens and why, for most of us, it is the best time of our lives,” Grimes says. “Immediately we are young and healthy and laughing in the arms of long-lost loved ones.” The Fun of Dying: Find Out What Really Happens Next! presents a brighter reality of death, weaving together elements from quantum physics to electronic voice phenomena to reveal the truth about how death happens, how it feels and what comes next. Grimes employs studies from scientists like Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, Raymond Moody and Gary Schwartz, along with decades of personal accounts from those who have experienced or witnessed events dealing with the afterlife, to explain why the “ultimate end” is not the end after all. Her use of numerous accounts of near-death experiences and details from those who witnessed others’ deaths explains what she calls the “after-death life.” Tonight we are also going to be giving away a couple of books to some lucky listeners who call in tonight.
