Faux Radio Show

2009 IdeaFestival on the Faux Radio Show!

In Louisville this past week, I got to participate as a member of the press in a gathering of today's greatest minds and innovators. Even cooler than that, I was treated by these great thinkers as a fellow colleague, rather than merely a student. I got to have interesting conversations with many of the speakers and presenters, and make some great personal connections. And for all of my listeners, this means that the next few shows will feature some very exciting people and cover some incredibly unique topics.

How to Grow our Way out of World Hunger- Thursday, October 1st, 8 PM
featuring Paul Osterlund

This features a 45 minute interview with Social Entrepreneur and agricultural innovator Paul Osterlund. He'll be telling all of us about Zeba, a cutting-edge water harvesting technology that allows poor farmers in third world countries to grow their way from subsistence to abundance just with a small handful of the material. This could potentially be a solution for water shortage, hunger and poverty, in the long term. In the longer term, this could also mean a reprieve in the climate change scenario, being that trees can be planted in dry areas to produce more rainfall and capture more CO2. Speaking of climate change...

Ice, Mud and Blood- Thursday, October 8, 8 PM
featuring Chris Turney

University of Exeter (UK) professor and climate scientist Chris Turney will be joining the Faux Show to talk about his book, with the same title. He draws on old studies of carbon capture and atmospheric science to explain just how rapidly our climate is changing and how that's been exacerbated in the past decade. During the half-hour, he also proposes solutions for listeners at home on how to take positive action in the global warming crisis.

Tag, You're It!- Thursday, October 15, 8 PM
featuring Braylyn Stewart

I'll be talking with a real live graffiti artist on this show as celebrated Louisvillian Graffitist Braylyn Stewart discusses the nature of his craft. Stewart talks about how he got his start in this unique form of art, and why graffiti deserves just as much respect as an art form as, say, Impressionism or Cubism.

Business' New Bottom Line- Thursday, October 22, 8 PM
featuring Po Chi Wu

A successful venture capitalist and visiting professor at the Peking University College of Business in China, Po Chi Wu talks in-depth about how 21st century business is following a new model. Dr. Wu also outlines how green initiatives and a bottom line of caring for people and the planet is of just as much importance as profit margins in this 30-minute exclusive.

Close to Home- TBA
featuring John McPherson

It'll be lighthearted near Halloween, when I'll be on the air live with the nationally-syndicated cartoonist for 60 minutes. He'll talk all about the ins and outs of his cartoon and it's message. And hey, if John is up for it, we'll also be taking live calls from listeners in what is sure to be my funniest show to date! Don't miss this one!

Well, hope you out there in radio world will be tuning in, as the Faux Show is coming back in a big, big way! As always, I'm open to suggestions for guests and topics, and welcome listener input at any time!

Best,
Carl Gibson
