On November 2nd you will be voting on 8 state-wide propositions and one very important Carlsbad proposition, Prop. G. In addition to the Mayoral, City Council, and City Treasurer we will be voting for Carlsbad City Clerk. Do you know what a City Clerk does? In reality City Clerk is an important but hardly known position. What does a City Clerk do? Why is it an elected and not appointed position? **** My first guest on Tuesday November 19th show is Lorraine Wood, Carlsbad City Clerk. Ms. Wood was appointed to this position in 2000 and has been elected as City Clerk since 2002. Before becoming our City Clerk, Lorraine spent most of her career in medical research at Scripps Clinic and other successful large corporations. In this interview I’ll focus on Lorraine’s experience as our City Clerk and we will talk about the complicated election process. **** Our second guest is Dr. Barbara Stone to help us understand and analyze various propositions that we need to vote on in a couple of weeks. Dr. Stone’s Ph.D. is in Political Science from University of Southern California. Her professional experiences include: Emeritus professor of Political Science at CA State University, Fullerton; chair of the Department of Political Science, Former President Board of Trustee, Rio Hondo Community College and many others. Dr. Stone is the recipient of Associated Students’ Outstanding Educator Award. I’ll interview Dr. Stone about the state-wide propositions that are on the November 2nd ballot. I’ll ask her to decipher the language of the propositions, their consequences, and behind the scene supporters of these propositions. The propositions we will review are: prop. 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 and Carlsbad’s Proposition G. **** I encourage you to email me your questions at: farrah.dogulas@gmail.com and listen to our show before you cast your vote on November 2nd.
