Have you received your absentee ballot yet? Well, I know some of you have because you have been calling me with questions about the propositions and the other candidates. I’m glad that you’re paying attention. To finish up our series on the Carlsbad Candidates, I’m interviewing two candidates for Carlsbad Unified School District’s Trustee. Last week we heard from Lisa Rodman, who is an incumbent and Ray Pearson, who is a very active new candidate. My guests for Tuesday October 5th are: Ann Tanner and Veronica Williams * Ann Tanner is the wife of current Trustee Mark Tanner who is stepping down. She is a licensed clinical Social worker and a graduate from Stanford and Columbia Universities. She summarizes her priorities as: a) increasing percentage of Carlsbad High School graduates who are eligible for entrance into the university of CA and Cal State, b) completing proposition P’s renovations, modernizing Carlsbad High School, building and staffing the new high school at College and Cannon. * Veronica Williams is a small business owner and technology consultant who has been developing innovative technology solutions for public agencies, non-profit organizations and private corporations for over 20 years. Her platform is summarized as: a) commitment to world-class education for our children, b) Maximizing student achievement in a healthy and safe environment. Please email me your questions and the issues you would want me to discuss with our school board candidates. It's the future of our children so please make sure you know the candidates and their platforms.
