June 8th Election & Propositions

We have put together a great show for you for Tuesday June first. Our focus will be first on the issues surrounding the new high school in our town and then we will talk about the election of June 8th, yes, we’re only a week away and I hope you are planning to vote. My first guest is Dr. John Roach Superintendent of the Carlsbad Unified School District. Dr. Roach has been in Carlsbad since 1994 and was recently selected as the ACSA Region 18 Superintendent of the year, a great honor for him as well as for the Carlsbad Unified School District. Dr. Roach and I will discuss a variety of issues, including: Proposition P, a $198 million bond passed by Carlsbad voters for the construction of a new high school and much needed repairs in some of the other public schools in Carlsbad. I will ask Dr. Roach about the lawsuit against this new high school, the Cancer scare at Kelly Elementary School, The budget cuts, his recent honor and the future of education in Carlsbad and across the country. **** Do you know how to vote on Propositions 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17? My second guest Dr. Barbara Stone, a Professor Emeritus of the Political Science Department at Cal State Fullerton will unravel the mystery for you. This witty, intelligent and take-no-prisoner Professor and I will devote thirty minutes to the upcoming June 8th election and will discuss the propositions which are on the ballot.
