Bauder College Closing: The Illegal acts of Graham Holdings/Kaplan PART 1

    in Family

This episode will discuss the closing of Bauder College and the illegal and unethical acts committed by Graham Holdings and Kaplan, Inc.  Bauder College is a private, for profit college located in Atlanta, Georgia.  It is a division of Graham Holdings ("GHC") and Kaplan, Inc. (Kaplan Higher Education ("KHE").  The closing of Bauder College will not resolve the issues faced by inner city, urban and rural American students, which includes student loan default rates and unemployment.  Most of these students will not be accepted by other colleges or universities and many will be left with nowhere to turn.  The cost of attending Kaplan University is greater than the attendance at Bauder and the majority of other colleges and universities.  Our government has failed these vulnerable populations and sit idle while Kaplan became a billion dollar for profit educational industry who knowingly targeted the most vulnerable population in this country with abusive practices that were used to target inner city, urban and rural poor Americans.

    Merry Christmas to Our Mamas!

    in Moms and Family

Charmaine Tarver, Ourtown National News Editor,
We all have our favorite memories of Christmas – I've had so many happy memories with my wonderful mother who would go the extra mile to make everything just right – from the way the Christmas tree was decorated, to the delightfully wrapped Christmas presents, the most wonderful stuffed turkey dinner and the table which was colorfully decorated.
But most of all, my mother taught us the true meaning of Christmas, wrapped up in the Spirit of Giving through Christ Jesus. I used to take objects from around the house and wrap them up for her because I had nothing of my own to give except for a loving heart. Which is what she taught us all,  along with myself and brothers, Bill, Tim, and Wayne.
The Christmas wish lists were always answered and our stockings were always filled with fruit, nuts and candy. All of these memories will always be cherished. We always received more than we ever asked for. But you see…. my mother is much more special then that…
She made sure we went to Sunday school, that we were encouraged to know the true meaning behind Christmas. She went to our school Christmas plays. She encouraged us to dance, sing and play To rejoice in our heart’s delight, so that we would come to know peace, love, joy and kindness under her loving guidance.
The most excellent thing is that she did this all year long, on birthdays, on Holidays and other gatherings of friends and family. She cared if others were hungry – if they were happy – if they had peace and joy. There were no empty days with my mother they all meant something. Surely, she knew Christ Jesus and surely he knows her.
By the way, I was twiced bless with two mothers, Leona Hafiz and Doris Tarver

About Family

Like the TV show, modern families come in all shapes and sizes. Many children are a product of divorce, are in touch with both their biological and adopted parents, have two moms or two dads (or both), or are being raised by their grandparents. No matter how atypical the face of today's family, the values stay the same: love and support. Moms and dads will find plenty of support in BlogTalkRadio's parenting shows, especially those about time-management topics that fit both stay-at-home and working parents: organizing kids' activity schedules, decluttering, reducing the workweek, managing stress, making quick meals and more. We've also got shows about friendship – you know, your family of choice rather than family of origin. Just remember: everyone's family seems dysfunctional in its own way. And family may irritate you, but more often than not, you can always count on family to pick you up from the airport.
