Hosts Dr. Roger Welton and Dr. Karen Louis discuss the most common injury of the canine rear leg: Cranial Cruciate Ligament Rupture. Cranial Cruciate Ligament Rupture or Tear in dogs is a common injury of the major stabilizing ligament of the knee. Injury of this ligament more often than not requires surgery to effectively treat. Our hosts delve into recognition of the injury, confirming a diagnosis, and what surgical options are available. Dr. Roger and Dr. Karen also have detailed articles on this topic at their respective blogs at Web-DVM.net and VetChick.com.

This episode is geared around 2 very hot topics circulating around social media platforms. Topic #1, Why do we have concerned animal lovers stating that a rescue in Venice, Florida is not putting the dogs needs first and foremost? This particular rescue is pulling numerous numbers of dogs out of Miami Dade Animal Servcies. Where are they all going? Why are they ALL not being vetted? We want to hear from those that fostered for this rescue. Topic #2. Strike 1, now strike 2, dogs are the brunt of this horrible situation. We have several animal lovers tagging us on what is occuring in Broward County, Florida. Lauderhill, Florida to be exact. This individual, has been referred to as a hoarder. Palm Beach County where the first incident occurred removed the young child from the home. Now, it appears the cycle has never ended and more dogs are sitting in cages 24/7. We need the Community to come together and fight for the animal's rights. Feel free to call in with any comments, questions or concerns. Call in number (516) 418-5682. Time to speak up for the animals, that cannot speak for themselves. It is time to hold these individuals accountable! Enough is enough!
Like the TV show, modern families come in all shapes and sizes. Many children are a product of divorce, are in touch with both their biological and adopted parents, have two moms or two dads (or both), or are being raised by their grandparents. No matter how atypical the face of today's family, the values stay the same: love and support. Moms and dads will find plenty of support in BlogTalkRadio's parenting shows, especially those about time-management topics that fit both stay-at-home and working parents: organizing kids' activity schedules, decluttering, reducing the workweek, managing stress, making quick meals and more. We've also got shows about friendship – you know, your family of choice rather than family of origin. Just remember: everyone's family seems dysfunctional in its own way. And family may irritate you, but more often than not, you can always count on family to pick you up from the airport.
