The Power of Extreme Dream Self-Care

A friend of mine recently told me he was getting a divorce yet had requested of his wife that they stop the divorce proceedings. This all really resonated with me considering my fiance had recently broken off our 13-month engagement (we were together for a total of five years) with little or no reason at at all.

I asked my friend to join me at the world-renowned Agape, spiritual center of the one and only Reverend Michael Bernard Beckwith. We started the day by walking to my favorite breakfast joint, sat outside, and then piled into the car to head off to Agape. While Rev. Michael Beckwith was not at the service due to his meditating for world peace in Washington D.C., the message was given by Rev. Leon Campbell.

Rev. Leon Campbell's presentation was entitled, "The Way of the Original" where he expressed he searched for the meaning of "orginal" in Webster's dictionary and was given the definition of "source, the beginning." He guided us all to listen to our source, to our intuition, to the beginning.  It got me thinking about how listening to the internal is the number one ways to give us back some great Extreme Dream Self-Care.

Following the service, my friend and I headed off to Venice Beach for a walk along the shore followed by a fabulous lunch of healthy wraps, mimosas and a killer dessert we shared. We headed back to the beach to play in the sand, take walks separate of each other and then a nap. When I awoke, I asked to stay and watch the sunset. We soaked it all in and meditated for peace together while digging our toes into the sand.

Our day did not end there! My girlfriend was celebrating her 50th birthday that night at Wockano, a very hot sushi club in Santa Monica. We ate more good food, drank delicious green tea, and communed with the others who wished to celebrate her life. Several of us got up and spoke of our love and affection for her and unbeknownst to me, she had suffered a severe cancer scare some years earlier. She shared that due to that scare she did not believe she would even make it to her 40th birthday let alone her 50th. As a result, she asked her friends to come together and "roast and toast" because she realized that too often we wait too long to tell others how we feel; "Usually" she stated, "We wait till the other person has passed and I want to hear it now!"

"Good for her!" I thought. I began evaluating the day. While my friend was processing his impending divorce and I my broken engagement, we chose to honor ourselves in Extreme Dream Self-Care all day and to tie that all up with a pretty bow came my friend who was honoring her life by bringing all her friends together in one place to celebrate her life by sharing positive memories and stories of her impact on them.

The point of this message is to highlight and amplify how yes, challenging situations may arise but we have the power to choose to still put ourselves first, celebrate our lives and honor what would feel best to ourselves in the course of what may feel like desperation, loneliness, and confusion.

I challenge you to write out a list of Extreme Dream Self-Care items so that you can pull it out daily or during those rough times to help you shift your energy and mindset to a place that serves you rather than one that hurts or hinders you and keeps you in a negative spiral. Oh! And the good news is that the items on the list do not need to be expensive, in fact, they can be free! To get you started, I will share some of my Extreme Dream Self-Care items from my list:

    1. Take a walk on the beach
    2. See the sunset
    3. Sit in a park and talk for hours with a friend
    4. Get an ice cream
    5. Journal
    6. Collect sea shells
    7. Walk around your neighborhood and visit a store you've never been in
    8. Paint a picture
    9. Swing on a swing at the park (one of my favorites!)
    10. Take in a comedy show; you may even be able to find one for free, I have!

Okay, now the ultimate challenge! I ask  you to email me your list so that I can hold you accountable to it: Laurie@ExtremeDreamTraining.com. The true test of your commitment to Extreme Dream Self-Care is this accountability piece so do yourself a huge favor and email it to me so I can hold you accountable.

If there is anything I learned from treating myself yesterday to an entire day of Extreme Dream Self-Care is that I know I have the power to get through this challenging time in my life and that I am getting to know myself really well as a result. Further, I've learned to embrace and accept love openly which has been the greatest give of all.

    To your extreme dream,

    The Extreme Dream Queen!
