  The Making of Inspired Speakers

  Don't Let IT Get You!

  With special guest Joy Ohayia, Ph.D, Author, Speaker, and Trainer. Introduction...... I hated my corporate job but I loved the check! I left early the day before “IT” happened. That same day a co-worker called me and said, “Are you okay, where are you? They laid three people off today, there’s supposed to be four.” The following day I dressed very casual, I remember I had a 9’oclock meeting that morning. I noticed that while I was speaking, my manager refused to make eye contact or take note of anything I said. On my way out of the meeting a colleague who usually ignored me said, “Take care”. Then my manager said, “Joy I need to speak with you”. I walked out of the conference room and never walked back in. I sat down and he said, “Your job has been terminated”. I said, “Okay good, how long will this take? I want to move my nail appointment up”. As I left the building some of my colleagues looked sad, some even cried, I was thinking Don’t cry for me Argentina, this is great, I’m out of bondage! Two weeks later my dream was born. Everyone advised me to use my newfound freedom to discover my passion. The answer hands-down, toes crossed was health and fitness. I have always been an athlete, I earned four individual records for sprinting and after over 20 years, two remain untouched. My first thought was, I need a company name it has to be big and attainable, “QuantumQuest!” Soon after, I opened a fitness club for women located in Central New Jersey. It xvi Don’t Let “IT” Get You! was September 30, 2005 to be exact. I will admit, I was nervous and the process was overwhelming. So much that I did not realize the club was mine, until my husband and I were walking through it and I said, “They have to change that.” My husband looked at me and said, “Who? They is you!”……………. We will have the opportunity to discuss with the author how she utilize, determining IT. How to overcome IT. How to have IT work in your favor.

  Sweet Thoughts - Introducing Ms. Shelita Vaughns

  Come and meet this energetic up and coming recording artist. We will explore: why she decided to go the route of independent recording artist; who does her productions and recording; how she got started in the business; and many other aspects of the business. And as an added treat, listeners will get a chance to hear several songs off of Shelita's new CD "Sweet Thoughts. Someone asks, “Shelita, what exactly is it that pushes you forward?” She immediately answers, “I don’t know? I feel as if I’m on the verge of something big you know. Bigger than me in a surreal sort of way! I’m not sure how or when it will happen but I feel it!” explains Alternative R&B singer/songwriter Shelita Vaughns. Perhaps one would feel it’s too much of a cliché to say, "Shelita has that rare IT factor or that she is THE NEXT BIG THING!" Guess what? One would be lying if they said she wasn’t! She is a rare songbird with a classic and timeless sweet, sultry sound. “I feel as if with every 5 steps I take forward there is always something trying to knock me 6 steps back. But for some reason I don’t care, as crazy as it seems I feel as if I’m paying my dues, if you know what I mean,” says Ms. Vaughns, as she rushes off to perform songs from her first project, SWEET THOUGHTS at her cozy Lower East Side regular venue in New York City.
