About The Guest
Steven Richie grew up as the youngest of three boys. He was blessed to be born into a God fearing family, attending Sunday school and worship services at Union Baptist Church – his family’s home church for 4 generations.
Steve was saved at the age of 8. On Wednesday night of vacation bible school in 1968 he confessed his faith and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His late pastor Dr. Rudolph S. Shoultz and former youth pastor Lindsey E. Curtis were instrumental in laying the groundwork for his faith in God. This groundwork was necessary as with most young people Richie found himself attracted to and a victim of the vices of the world.
Richie earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois- Springfield. He will graduate with a Masters from Lincoln Christian University in the fall of 2012. His area of specialty is Christian Education and Pastoral Counseling.
Prior to his ministerial calling, Pastor Richie worked with kids of various ages, serving as the director of Baptist Youth Fellowship. In his role as director he was responsible for the spiritual growth and development of the youth of Union as well as working on the statewide level in the Youth Department of the Illinois Baptist Congress of Christian Education.
Pastor Richie and his wife of 26 years, Bernice are the parents of four young adults: Whitney, Camille, Brandon and Robbie.
