    Chanel Davis-Sims, also known as VERSE The Artist, is a conscious Emcee/Poet. The name “VERSE” was given to her by the good still voice in her head. She conveys a unique blend of consciousness, hardcore street reality, and spirituality through her lyrics over scorching beats. Deriving from Lynwood, California, VERSE brings a whole new perspective to the Hip Hop genre. Recently, a reputable online magazine described her as, “A fresh sound…it reminds us of ‘Old School’ mixed with ‘New School’. “VERSE keeps it real, without being crass, with a touch of class.” - R.P.

    VERSE The Artist spends her time creating mind-blowing, intriguing, montages verbally. She writes songs expressing her feelings about love, victories, and epidemics in all of our communities such as: fatherless children, cheating spouses, deception & trickery, etc. Currently she is involved with the “School Tour”. The “School Tour” visits Southern California Schools during their lunch. This is where the stars of tomorrow entertain the students of today on a positive note.

    The production for the “It Is Written” project have been developed by producers from around the globe. Dynamic producers: MikeSoundsNice Prod., J.U.C. Prod., Dr. Dahn Dahlas, Track Tickler, Kylon G Beats, BigMan The Producer, A-1, Deezy (Day-Chi Experience), & Beyond The Next Level Prod.     VERSE was allotted recognition by the “International Library of Poetry” for her literary work, “He Is”. It was published summer 2006 in a book titled, “Timeless Voices”. In Fall of ’06, she scored highest in the spoken word category at the Los Angeles “Black Business Expo”. In 2007, she was a featured poet at the “Pan African Film/Spoken Word Festival” at, “Magic Johnson Theatre” in Los Angeles. She is also a favorite at one of L.A.’s most premier Spoken Word nightclubs, where she has rocked the crowd with or without music. Her unique stanza has gained her devoted admirers from young to old, from all over the world, by showcasing her music via World Wide Web.

    “VERSE” says, “Writing is my therapy.     Tonya Blount is a woman walking in her destiny. As a domestic violence survivor and noted advocate she travels throughout the country ministering to battered women.  She is an award-winning author of Leaving the Wilderness, Jay's Mansion and Cha-Ching and her forthcoming memoir, The Resurrection of Me will be released in April 2008.  Tonya is also a playwright, and television talk show host of The Tonya Blount Show which aired on FOX in Central Virginia and will air in New York City in November 2007.
