Hi, Schools were good before Bush? 1987 Movie: Principal - horrible school 1989 Movie: Lean on Me - school from hell 1995 Movie: Dangerous Minds - Michelle Phifer I think they were prtraying inner citiy schools in Us, there are many other example of movies in 1980s AND 1990s showing inner city schools that looked like ZOOS! Schools did not become BAD because of Bush. Bush passed no child left behind BECAUSE schools were in such horrible shape. Inner schools have been failing WAY BEFORE Bush was elected. Federal spending on schools has GROWN in actual dollars, AND per student per year expenditures. 2000 - total spending on schools was: 348 BILLION 2008 - total spending on schools was: 490 BILLION 2000 - per student per year: $6,912 2008 - per student per year: $9,969 Source: U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics WHILE computers and books are cheaper than ever before. Look for ANY book on amazon or ebay and youll find 100s of New and Used books on sale for as little as $1 EACH! At end of year, kids throw books away? books need to update once every 3 years MAX. Do the laws of math change? Does vocablary or English lessons change every year? where are the books from last year? Schools only need one set of books for each class! Where did they go? Not having books is an EXCUSE used by bad teachers. Use 5 year old books then, BIG DEAL. 5 year old math books are no good? Just EXCUSES. Most of technology built today was based on books used 50 years ago! Plus Justice called you out when she spoke about the law enforced that schools must not only provide books, but TWO OF EACH!!!!!! One for home and one for school! Schools are STILL failing.
