Does the LGBT community have the same struggle as African Americans in the past?

I disagree! I'm not homophobic but I say you can't compare the to. Blacks didn't 'hide" behind their race and we would all agree without total coverage and silence it would be very difficult to hide a person's race.On the other hand, no one knows what your sexuality is [many can make assumptions] not unless a person announce publicly what their preference is. What I don't like about the comparison is this. Why is it that on social and civil issues gays and lesbians come to foreground when it's only about gay issues or gay rights as they call them? You ever see these minority group come together and speak out against racism or is it left to thus into interracial sex. Do they speak out for or against war or only about Dont ask, Dont tell? If you don't agree with all there grievances or claims are you homophobic because of this and they are not straight phobes because they believe they Belong to a gay community that only exist in areas where gay bars usually are. Blacks had and still have pride, they didn't parade showing themselves in obvious stereotypes.to be heard and listen to.
