Real Discipleship is not an event, it is not a seminar, and it cannot be taught in a classroom setting. Real Discipleship requires daily interaction between the Disciple-Maker and the Disciple(s). And Real Discipleship is a lifetime commitment.
There are those that walk away from their talmid(im) i.e. disciples when they fall. It seems as if they feel that the fall is a reflection of themselves as the disciple-maker. In actuality, this is the very opposite of what our Messiah Yahshua did. He did not leave them to themselves. He went after them.
He was not ashamed to be seen with those who denied them. He went with the purpose of restoring them and their relationship with Him. He did not sit them on the sidelines. He brought them back to the path that He called them to walk; addressed their issue(s), and set them on their way again.
Are we truly making disciples or are we making a name for ourselves? Whose ministry are we building; ours or Messiah's? Are we more concerned with our own reputation or the person(s) that Messiah has brought us to help along their way on their journey?
May we all be found walking more like Messiah; making disciples with the understanding that they will undoubtably fall from time-to-time. And we are to be there to help them pick up the pieces, help them restore their relationship with Abba. And guard their testimony from attack or assult. Real restoration means to be made whole, as if their was no fall at all!
