Back in June 2010, Ernest Radio Network had the privilege to interview St. Paul Peterson and Susannah from the Prince protégé group, The Family. The Family was the first group to record "Nothing Compares 2 U", five years before Sinead O'Connor, and 8 years before Prince himself (who wrote it for his then-girlfriend Susannah, twin sister of Wendy Melvoin of Wendy & Lisa). The Family released one album, played one live show, and then disbanded with St. Paul went off for a solo career. (Prince addressed that in his song, "Dream Factory".)

St. Paul, Susannah, Eric Leeds, and Jellybean Johnson regrouped circa 2004 to reform The Family, and make some new music. It's been a slow process, but the album is finally done. Also finished is the long decision to come up with a new band name (since the powers that be disallowed them reusing The Family), and that name is Fdeluxe.

Although we didn't edit too much out of the original interview, this edition of Side Show plays the whole interview as it happened, uncut and uncensored. Also included on this show will be two songs from the album, "Gaslight", and "@8". There are two version of "@8", one being a rough cut and one being the final version. We will play both of those, plus "Gaslight", and a few other goodies from St. Paul's Best Of St. Paul - Straight To The Funk Vol. 1. By the way, Steve Parke, who we played last week, did the photography for the new Fdeluxe project and St. Paul's album Best Of album.

Prince fans, and music fans, don't want to miss this episode of Side Show, here on ERN.
