Dan Guarino is an author, exhibiting artist and photographer, newspaper columnist, singer/musician, poet, songwriter and performer. As visual coordinator, Dan co-authored a book with his late wife, Elizabeth--who recently passed away from cancer, titled, Images of America: Broad Channel. As the first book published about the area, it chronicles through text and nearly two hundred vintage pictures the lively and surprising history of this unique community situated on the last inhabited island in Jamaica Bay, Queens, NY. A long-time resident, Dan writes the Broad Channel Bits column for Rockaway's local newspaper, The Wave. His writing and photography have appeared in numerous local newspapers and online. To date he has written upward of 2,500 poems.

Dan is VP of the non-profit Rockaway Artists Alliance (RAA), which actively supports all the arts, education and community. The RAA has two galleries and an education center at the National Park's Fort Tilden in the Rockaways. Its members include all types of artists and supporters of the arts. He is co-founder and coordinator of the RAA Writers Group.

Dan's work has appeared in over three dozen juried exhibitions and several online venues. He regularly performs as a singer/ musician. His spoken word CD, Apples and Apples, features original poetry and music. Dan's been seen on television and more recently has branched out into acting and comedy.

"It's an adventure," he says.
