It is true that women move to the beat of a different drum but those drums beat loudly. Let’s speak of Jane Addams 1860-1935. She was a Social Activist, Charter member of the NAACP, founder of the Full House, Labor Union organizer and a Nobel Peace Prize Winner. Louisa May Alcott 1832-1888 – Teacher, servant, seamstress, Civil War Nurse and an Author and novelist. Josephine Baker 1906-1975 – African American international star, Civil Rights Activist and a World War II heroine. Sarah Bolton 1841-1916 was a Noted Cleveland Author of biographies, temperance novels and poetry. Carrie Chapman Catt 1859-1947– Suffragette and founder of the League of Woman Voters. Isadora Duncan 1875-1929 she is the Mother of modern dance. Dorothy Fuldheim 1893-1989 she was a Jewish American news journalist and television broadcaster. She developed the format for television and programming. Zelma Watson George 1903-1994 she was an African American delegate of the UN, educator, opera singer and speaker. These are just a minute amount of the vast women supporters. Women raise your glasses, look back in history and know that we have helped shape our world. Teach and educate our daughters that they can and will do great things.
