Thought for the Day/Week: If everyone would think before they speak and pause before they react, the entire world would be silent and crime free simultaneously.
Renowned Makeup and Hair Designer, Peter King, began his career in 1970 when he left school and was involved in a variety of small theatre companies. This career change culminated with Peter heading up an arts centre for two years before realizing his path would be in Makeup and Hair. Peter began work at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre in 1980 where he met Peter Owen.A major highlight of Peter’s career was designing the original theatre productionof “Phantom of the Opera,” now playing all over the world. From that point,Peter has focused on a successful career in film with his forte in wig design and period work. He received the highest of honors winning both the Oscar and BAFTA for his exceptional work on the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, distinguishing himself as a master of his craft. In 2007 Peter collaborated once again with famed director Peter Jackson on DreamWorks’ “The Lovely Bones.” 2009 proved to be a very busy year. Peter was the designer on Rob Marshall’s star studded film “Nine” which included a cast full of Oscar winners including Daniel Day-Lewis and Nicole Kidman, bringing him for the seventh time in his career, a BAFTA nomination. He also collaborated again with Emma Thompson on the next Nanny McPhee installment “Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang.” You can also see his work in the upcoming Alice Through the Looking Glass and in 2017 Star Wars: Episode VIII with Pirtaes of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
