The luxury of eye sight is something we all take for granted for the most part. For those who are not able to see well, or at all, life can be challenging in more ways than just the inability to see. For a child, learning everything one must just to get to adulthood is difficult enough, couple that with vision impairment and the journey is made so much more difficult. Loss of confidence, unacceptance from peers, bullying - so much comes into play. There is however, a wonderful tool to help those with sight, understand better, what those without sight endure on a daily basis and although the book we will be discussing is written for children, I believe, I See The World is a book for everyone who is able to see perfectly, teaching us how others see differently. A glimpse into the world of a child's own visual limitations or those of others, buildilng confidence and acceptance, fostering sensitivity to disabilities. It is also an anti-bullying and teachig tolerance tool. My guest is Jean Barlow, the author of I See The World. When I discovered this book it really resonated because we here at Energy Awareness Radio believe that raising consciousness is paramount in making this world a more peacable place for all and I believe as adults we need to bring that awareness to children. So, anything that will stop the bullying, foster compassion and empathy, is worht discussing and this book certainly fulfills all the criteria.
