If you were a victim of abuse or sexually molested as a child, you are not alone. Statistics show that crimes against children remain one of the most silent but deadly issues in our communities. Driven by perversion and masochistic thoughts, many pedophiles find victims as far away as over seas to right in their own homes. Incest, rape and molestation is one of the hidden dark secrets that plague the Black community. Rev. Thomasine Wren will discuss her own life's transition from an abused child to prostitution and finally a minister.  Dont miss this discussion of the highly acclaimed book, Plain Brown Wren, that is sure to remind you to hug your own child. Could someone you know be at risk? Tune in to find out what signs you should look for.

Review of Plain Brown Wren by Cumming Fletcher (Amazon.com)
    Five Stars!
"A Plain Brown Wren" - an autobiography of an African American woman with determination, courage, remarkable strength and a powerful will to survive. Ms. Wren endured mental, physical and sexual abuse from the time she was a young girl until well into adulthood.  Instead of giving up, she searched until she found that inner strength that only comes from God and fought those demons that tried to destroy her. Ms. Wren was shockingly open and honest about so many personal and private details of her life.  In one sense, she has cut herself open and allowed the world to see the deep, dark crevices of her most private secrets, so that none will have to endure what she did.  One has to wonder how Ms. Wren remained sane, while so many others around her seemed mad; estranged, united and then abandoned by her father, sexually exploited by her aunt and politicians, physically and mentally abused by her husband and others, it is a miracle that Ms. Wren survived at all.  The book reminds us that the power of God is so awesome, and if He loves us and forgives us, then we must certainly forgive ourselves and each other.  I found the book to be challenging, provocative, stimulating and confrontational, and highly recommend it.
