The S/HEroes Path & Journey: Special Guest: Joseph Edwards, Award Winning Actor and Playwright

The Courage To Walk The Path ~ The Soul of A Teacher/Healer - Joseph Edwards is an artist and educator of diverse talents.  His work as an actor and playwright has been showcased on film, television, and stage.  In February 2007, Joseph did a limited engagement of his one-man show Manchild In The Promised Land at the John F. Kennedy Center, in Washington DC. This stage adaptation of the classic autobiography of Claude Brown, originally produced at the American Place Theatre, was nominated for an AUDELCO Award for excellence in Black theater. Joseph won three AUDELCO awards for his critically acclaimed Off-Broadway production of FLY, a comedy he both wrote and performed. FLY was also presented at the National Black Theater Festival in North Carolina and at the HBO Performance Space in Los Angeles. Fly chronicles the comic and dramatic tales of one man’s attempt to survive the streets of New York City. Pushed to his mental limit, Fly, the main character, believes that he will fly from a Brooklyn rooftop on this special night when the stars align to send divine energy to the earth. He has been preparing for this moment for two years and as he consecrates the rooftop for the coming event, he shares the hilarious and tragic tales that have brought him thus far.  Join us as our Brother brings a healing message. Joseph will be performing FLY on June 12th,  2011, 5 p.m. at the Studio Theater in Washington, DC. www.dcblacktheatrefestival.com or Call 646 221-4994. Post Show Reception at Tabaq Bistro-1336 U Street, NW
