The French language is the founding langauge of Louisiana. The Louisiana Creole and Cajun all can trace roots to a French speaking community within the state. However, the 1900s was a very anti-French century for Louisiana. The langauge was forced out of the communities and English forced in, there are still Francophone communities within Louisiana. However, an organization named CODOFIL is now working to bring French as a main language of South Louisiana once again, more than 1,000 children in the Lafayette area now attend a French immersion school, CODOFIL community organizer Elaine Clement will be on the show to talk about the efforts. Also, the SOLO ZYDECO PRODUCTIONS is perhaps the largest Creole Events company in Texas, they plan several Creole centered events within the Houston area annually. For example, the Solo Zydeco Festival in March and the Juneteenth Festival in June both using big named Creole artist to attract thousands from the Houston metro. We will talk with Texas born but Creole man, Troy Barrett about this ZYDEBusiness! All of this and more with your host, EJCreoleBoy.
