Guy Fawkes also known as Guido Fawkes, the name he adopted while fighting for the Spanish in theLow Countries, was a member of a group of provincial English Catholics who planned the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605.

Fawkes became synonymous with the Gunpowder Plot (the planned assassination of the Protestant King James), the failure of which has been commemorated in England since 5 November 1605. His effigy is traditionally burned on a bonfire, commonly accompanied by a firework display.

Join Paul & Stephen of EGH Media along with expert historian Matthew Ward as they discuss Guy Fawkes, the Gunpowder Plot and the long standing traditions of November 5th that still take place today.

Matthew Ward is a historian and edutainer that has worked with the team from Most Haunted and is well known for being killed in many gruesome ways on TV’s Horrible Histories.
