Can we distinguish between our real self and our self concept? There is stability and certainty in one and instability and uncertainty in the other. It is the difference between reality and illusion and the dreamer and the dream.
When you look in the mirror you see a reflected image of your physical self. There are not two physical selves there but only one because the mirror image is reflected light showing us a picture of the physical self. What remains after we move away from the mirror and the mirror image is gone is what persists and so we call the physical body real. We have learned to see and believe that physicallity or the body is life.
Today, with Eloisa Ramos, we explore a spiritual perspective of what life is and what we are. Lesson 201- 214 of A Course in Miracles are a review of past lessons holding the central idea of “I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.”
We will extend the mirror analogy to the spiritual level and explore the difference between the real Self and the self concept, (the dreamer and the dream; the experiencer and the experience) and why confusion between them can be frightening and mentally unstabilizing.
