Featuring Fern Wasserman, Founder of the New York Legal Nurse Consultants Inc.

On Tuesday, March 22 at 2pm EST, John Mills, Co-Founder of eCareDiary will interview Fern Wasserman. Fern Wasserman is the President and founder of New York Legal Nurse Consultants Inc. She is a Nurse Practitioner and Board Certified in Adult Health. Ms. Wasserman graduated from Ulster County Community College with an Associates of Science in Nursing in 1995 and was awarded a Masters of Science in Nursing at Columbia University in 2001.

Ms. Wasserman works with her clients on Advance Medical Directives. She helps her client’s make educated decisions. She utilizes a values based approach to accomplish this task. She meets with her client and the appointed surrogates and facilitates the discussion between the group so that all understand what the client’s choices are so the appointed health care agents can carry out the wishes of the client with confidence. Her work is a natural progression from her nursing career in critical care, organ donation and hospice.

Wasserman remains clinically active. She serves as a state liaison for New York for National Health Care Decisions Day as well as a member of the MOLST implementation team in New York. She continues to sharpen her clinical skills in the hospital setting where she actively advocates for goals of care discussions with her patients and their families.
