Hurricane Ike crashed into the Texas Coast early Saturday Sept. 13 causing extensive damage to Galveston, Houston and the surrounding areas. Now that the storm has passed, the damage assessment and recovery efforts have begun. Eliot Jennings the former operations and planning coordinator for Galveston County’s Office of Emergency Management will discuss the steps that the Gulf Coast has taken to prepare for a storm, as well as the appropriate recovery and response steps currently underway in Texas.
