As people of God, we are called to have compassion, one for another.  But what does it all mean!  Most, if not all of us would say that we have compassion for others, but do we?  There's a difference between compassion and empathy.  Mainly, empathy refers more generally to our ability to take the perspective of and feel the emotions of another person, while compassion is when those feelings and thoughts include the desire and commitment to help.

Our guest, Joe Smith, President and Founder of Struggcon, Inc. will talk with us today about a very mind boggling and shocking concept of the Prison Industrial Complex and Prison Re-entry programs for those who are being released from prision.  We will explore what it means to exploit prisoners and discuss the breakdown of the family unit and the continual impact that the prison population have on family, culture, employment, community, etc.

When you get an ear full of the devastating facts, perhaps you will be moved with compassion to help in some way shape or form.
