Feb. 6th marks 42 years since Leonard Peltier was wrongfully extradited from Canada due to fabricated and coerced affidavits.  In April 1977, he was condemned to two life sentences in the deaths of two FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Reservation.  The FBI collected evidence from over half of the country, evidence was manufactured, statements/testimony was coerced, and a manipulation of the federal justice system to secure a conviction.
The FBI has promised that Peltier will never walk out of prison.
Peltier cause is well known and has had the support of numerous celebrities, world religious/political leaders, and Amnesty International has designated Leonard Peltier as a political prisoner of the United States. When the former president, Bill Clinton, was asked about Peltiers application, he said he would give it a "looksee" because there was a lot of interest in his case.  That resulted in federal agents staging a protest and offering then Governor of South Dakota, Bill Janklow.  Janklow, while as AG for SD he stated the way to deal with AIM is to put a bullet in their heads.  Janklow became AG after fleeing a rape investigation on the reservation of a 15 year old female rape victim.
It isn't known what actually took place, but Clinton neither approved or denied the petition when he left office as Bush jr. came in.  When the petition was brought to his attention.  He denied it.  The last time Peltier was nominated for the Nobel peace prize, Barack Obama was awarded it.  On his campaign trail to the presidency, he was asked by Native traditional and spiritual leaders about justice for Peltier, and he promised he would look into it. 8 years and not a word.
What is it going to take to free an innocent man.  Join us with Mark Maxey, Muscogee, as our special guest.  We hope to be joined by a couple of others and will update as they confirm.
