Those who have been scarred by the application of criminal justice agree on one thing, the justice system is criminal: it usually depends on if you can afford a top-notch attorney and investigators, who you know or the color of your skin. My guest this Sunday is a man who spent 43 years in the Oklahoma prisons waiting for someone to hear his story, when it was heard, the wheels began moving, ever so slowly. On April 30th, Reno Francis walked out of prison a free man, He recently married the woman who believed in him and helped bring him out of prison.
I knew Reno during the years I was imprisoned at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary and he is one of the few people I've never heard anyone have a bad word about him. I spoke with him this evening about his plans and his feelings after being out for a few months, and he says that he want to use his case and his voice to help others.
