The Empowerment Hour Online University Live Special Edition The Scott Sisters Sentences have been suspended Yes, the Governor of Mississippi has suspended their sentences and they are expected to be released within 45 days upon their official move to Florida from Mississippi. Our special guests are Attorney Chokwe Lumumba and local businesswoman Sister Jone Maati Primm, who both played key roles in obtaining the release of Jamie and Gladys Scott---the Scott Sisters-- from prison in Mississippi. Mr. Lumumba is the attorney for the Scott sisters today. He also represented them in as their appeal lawyer in 1996-2000, when the case went before the appeal board. Lumumba came into the case after the original defense lawyer, Firnist Alexander, was disbarred. Ms. Primm---Sister Maati is a coordinator of the very effective Free the Scott Sisters Campaign in Mississippi and visits them every week in the women's section of the prison that's about 20 miles from Jackson. Lumumba exhausted the appeals process in 2000, after three attempts and a petition to the governor. Lumumba then ended his work with the case until earlier this year, after the Scott Sisters' cause gained new momentum. Miss Primm played an important role in coordinating the grass-roots support in the Jackson area to keep the case before the public eye. We welcome both Mr. Lumumba and Sister Maati to the Empowerment Hour this week You MUST Tune In and Call In this Saturday www.BlogTalkRadio.com/eadyassociates Call In Number 646-716-7472 Callers can also send e-mails prior to the program to info@kermiteady.com with the Subject Line "Empowerment Hour Questions"
