Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush hit the Sunday talk show circuit, appearing on five networks including CNN, NBC and ABC. Ostensibly, Bush was there to push his new book on immigration, a subject Republicans are grappling with following their defeat at the polls in November. However, the question of a potential 2016 run kept coming up, particularly since another likely nominee, Marco Rubio, is considered Bush’s friend and political collaborator. Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick Guilty of Corruption; City Council to Fight State Takeover
Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been convicted of corruption, a jury finding him guilty of more than 20 charges the most serious of them including racketeering, bribery and extortion. Meanwhile, the Detroit City Council intends to fight the state’s plan to take over the city’s finances. Governor Rick Snyder had declared a state of fiscal emergency in Detroit. New Military Medal for Drone Pilots Meets Controversy
The Defense Department’s plan to issue Distinguished Warfare Medals has met with resistance, with U.S. senators and veteran organizations reacting negatively. The medal is intended to honor service members who contribute to efforts on the battlefield but from a distance, such as drone pilots. Much of the criticism stems from the fact that the new medal is placed above the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. We get insight from Michael Hoffman, Iraq War Veteran and Founder of Iraq Veterans Against War.
