Everyday KC - Mainstreet!

America's smaller communities and "mom & pop" businesses have taken it on the chin in the last few years. But there are some savvy folks with innovative ideas, working together to renovate and revitalize the traditional American "Main Street". 

Today we talk with one of the most driven and successful of these leaders, Tricia Drape, Executive Director of "Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street", a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is affiliated with the National Trust for Historic Preservation's "National Main Street" project. She talks to us about the challenges faced by America's smaller cities, and family-owned businesses, and how Lee's Summit's leaders have been able, even in this economy, to revitalize and grow their quaint and historic downtown. Her passion is infectious, as she explains the importance and value of this sort of focused, strategic effort and investment.
