Action sports in Atlanta has been going on for decades. With the ecletic and diverse group of people the area has to offer, it's amazing how action sports can bring them all together in one arena. No matter what differences or issue they may carry outside in the real world, it all gets set aside for the love of sport. Whether they are a true fanatic of the team, a dad just trying to take his family to a game, or a couple looking to get away from the kids for a night, action sports can bring a lot of positive energy into one nucleus of people cheering for the pride of their team!
All of the attention in the nucleus is focused on one thing, a win! But, as you look around the stands, you see thousands of people rooting for the same thing. They are like your brothers and sisters. Despite you may never actually meet most of these individuals, you have that one thing in common and it makes you feel like a part of an exclusive group.
Action sports in America have been around for over a century, and can even be dated back to Roman times. Sports have transceded issues through time and have had a huge impact on racism and discrimination. Sports teaches you to be part of a team. The goal is to win. No matter where you came from or what you think, the win will never come if any part of that team focuses on anything else. All black teams use to have to play all white teams, now you have African Americans, Caucasians, Hispanics, Asians, Pacific Islanders, Europeans, and every ethniticy imaginable playing action sports, many on elite levels and on the same team.
It's not about race or culture anymore, it's about being part of a team to achieve a common goal. From the player to the fan, the more people that come together, the easier that goal will be accomplished.
