    Where are our Black Men

Women Rule the World, or do they?  Listen to our "Girl Power half an hour - Where are our Black Men" segment and voice your opinion about the power shift that is taking place in African American Homes.  NBC nightly news did a Five Part Series called "African American Women: Where they stand." (www.msnbc.com)  This was an interesting piece and in no way did it leave a bad taste in your mouth about the black man.  It had you ask yourself, where are they?  As a divorced black woman, I raised one son for 4 years by myself and is now an entrepreneur and author.  I've seen my share of struggles.   After I chose to leave my husband, I knew that I would have to work really hard to provide a home for our son.  It was never in me to go to child support court to get assistance with our son because I didn't want to see another black male in the system.  All I requested of him was to spend quality time with his son, which he did.  When times were hard, I asked my son father for help and received it.  After 4 years of doing it on my own, my son's father was able to get his stuff in order and he now provides a home for our son.  What a blessing!

I am a firm believer that black women are powerful in so many ways.  We can make or break the black man.  I want to hear from my sistas out there.  If you had to choose which do you think is more valuable, your child's father spending quality time with the child or the financial responsibility of a child.  You are not allowed to choose both.

Hello Coach Dionne, I am a single mother also and I feel that my child;s father spending quality time with her is more important, but unfortunately he does not spend that quality time with her, nor does he offer any type of financial assistance. My daughter is almost 16, and I'm thankful that God has opened doors for me financially and has provided strong black role models in her life. Sincerely, Ms Moe
