Baal Destroyed by the Fire of Jehovah

It was customary to honor a king by running before his chariot (Verse 46; Exod. 12:11; II Kin. 3:29; 9:1; Lk. 12:37; 17:8 and Acts 12:8). Ahab's  report to Jezebel regarding the prophets of Baal being destroyed by the fire of Jehovah. She rejected his account of the miraculous fire and of the supernatural superior power of Elijah’s’ over her pagan gods. Her heart was hardened and she determined to kill Elijah for defeatingher idol gods.

 Fear

1 Kn. 19:1, Ahab tells Jezebel about everything that had happened on the top of Mount Carmel. Jezebel is furious, sent a messenger (messengers were angelic beings in the Bible) to Elijah to take his life. This brave man runs in fear for his life. “Then when he saw "that," “he ran for his life” (I Kn. 19:3a). He ran to Mount Horeb, out of the will of God no longer looking for God to lead him.

We see this thing called “that” it released fear upon him, a doorway was opened for that demonic spirit  the bondage of fear, bringing self-pity, oppression and depression. Fear is the exact opposite of faith. He had received the spirit of fear bringing hordes of demons to join him.

What was “that” and who was the “messenger” that Jezebel sent to this prophet of God? Why didn’t she just send someone to kill Elijah without first warning him?  Witchcraft always works with the spirit of fear! Elijah had to accept the spirit and fear before Jezebel’s powers could work.

Did Elijah run Jezebel? Elijah killed all her prophets showing faith to attack her gods. Could it be “that” was the chief evil demonic principality over Jezebel’s witchcraft power; the messenger, a fallen angel aiding her rule over the nation?
