Online Education: Can I bet my career on it?
United States, English
Education
Host: Dr Mark Welch, wrote his PhD dissertation about the pros and cons of online education and is an online professor. He enjoys online ed but knows that it is not for everyone. Discussions include: Is online education legit? Harvard University has eight Masters degrees that can be early partially online? http://www.extension.harvard.edu/2009-10/DistanceEd/online-courses/degrees.jsp Oxford University has several online programs. If, Harvard and Oxford have bet their reputations on online education, I think the rest of us can. Full disclosure, I was in an experimental online college courses at Harvard, I also graduated from Oxford Universities online program in history. Yes, I am bias toward these schools and online education. Other topics discuss include: *How does online education work? *How do I compare colleges and degrees? *How do I fit it into my hectic life? *Will my employer respect my online degree? *Can I get regular federal student loans? *Is it worth it at this point in my career? *What is my return on investment if I get an online degree?
