Local Ohlone tribal leaders say they will continue their quest for federal recognition despite Monday’s denial of a San Jose-based tribe’s request. Ohlone/Costanoan Muwekma Tribe, a 400-member group that sought federal recognition to qualify for government services. The bureau found the Muwekma’s petition failed to meet three of the seven criteria for federal acknowledgment. "The Muwekma has spent a lot of money and did a lot of research," said Patrick Orozco, a leader of the Pajaro Valley
