Unless we as adults pay more attention and mentor our youths and make positive attempts to give them an alternative then they are fuel for the fire of destruction. No amount of prayer, emotions, or deflecting is going to get this job done. Only the community of serious and concerned adults working together will be sufficient. Non of us in the community wants these young men terrorizing the community currently or in the future or consider them suitable candidates for marrying current or our future daughters, nieces, cousins, and sisters in our community. Our people are living other than self. As mature adults we have to take a long hard look in the mirror. This reflection is the gut wrenching dreadful bitter truth. The brain has three levels of networks, which comprise of the cognizant, sub conscious and unconscious mind. The cognizant or conscious mind encloses information in which it travels to the short and long-term memory. The long-term memory is segments of one’s memory that retains experiences permanently, whereas the short-term memory only stores memory temporary in parts of the mind. The subliminal or sub conscious mind contains all the information we have obtained throughout our lifespan. All that we see, hear, smell, touch, learn, or experience is retained in this vicinity of the brain. This quarter of the brain contains undisclosed messages in which it will expose when a memory starts to develop in fragments. The unconscious (automatic) mind is where our self, individuality works instinctively. Some theorists deem the unconscious mind as the inadvertent mind. This is because some behaviors we display are unintentionally acted upon by signals we receive from the unconscious mind. Behaviors are physical actions, such as reacting to some thought. Everyone has a different view of themselves, but keeping a positive outlook will benefit you more than a negative one. Many individuals suffer from low self esteem for a variety of reasons and need to build their self esteem in order to succeed in life. Remember, the only one who can make you excel is you and no one else. The same goes for self esteem. The only person who can build up—or consequentially tear down—your self esteem is you. Although other individuals may aide the process, the end decision is yours. People have low esteem for a variety of reasons. Some individuals suffer from poor body image and focus on all the negative traits of their physical appearance. Others have emotional issues that have caused their self esteem to drop or feel themselves unworthy of any praise. For whatever reasons your self esteem may falter, the key to building it up again is to find the root of the problem. Think of self esteem like a house, if you build a stunning house on a poor foundation, the entire structure will crumble. And to think that most of us will turn a sightless eye to our babies. This is the next generation. And to think some of our people will have the impudence to say that a male is not needed in the homes. And this is not a finger pointing match. Every home without a father in it isn't because he isn't trying to be there; many times his children are being forcefully kept from him. The roads that pave the Black Community and our male and female relationships are not paved with gold or roses and are surface with many Hollywood untruths of what the man and women roles are in a family and that of a loving and caring relationship. Unless we as adults pay more attention and mentor our youths and make positive attempts to give them an alternative then they are fuel for the fire of destruction. No amount of prayer, emotions, or deflecting is going to get this job done. Only the community of serious and concerned adults working together will be sufficient. Non of us in the community wants these young men terrorizing the community currently or in the future or consider them suitable candidates for marrying current or our future daughters, nieces, cousins, and sisters in our community. Our people are living other than self. As mature adults we have to take a long hard look in the mirror.
