Why “Doctor of the Future..” Radio? Thomas Edison, the famous American inventor, reportedly stated in 1902 that “The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.” Did Edison see the writing on the wall with managed health care? Did he envision 1 out of every 10 Americans to have diabetes today? Could he predict that the estimated prevalence of children on the Autism Spectrum would be 1 in 93? Did he dream of Americans being overweight, yet under nourished? It is not likely. In fact, there is a lot more to the quote where these few lines were extracted, and Edison concluded by saying, “Surgery, diet, antiseptics — these three are the vital things of the future in preserving the health of humanity. There were never so many able, active minds at work on the problems of diseases as now, and all their discoveries are tending to the simple truth — that you can't improve on nature." What does that mean to us? Through the discoveries of science, clinical research, personal experience, and modern applications of diet, nutrition, medicine, and rehabilitation, we will be able to help patients to live longer, healthier lives. The purpose of this program will be to bring to light nutritional and herbal applications to support acute and chronic conditions, to interview experts in the field of functional medicine, to share exciting new techniques and applications in neurology and physical medicine, and most importantly, to help you take control of your health.
