The Nutty Professor - Science weighs in on the validity of Biblical Prophecy

From Professor X (a college professor who wishes to remain anonymous):

There are those that wonder what the U.S.'s role in end times is going to be. Many beleive that because the U.S. is so rich in the 'new-born Christian' demographic that double-digit percentages of people in the U.S. will disappear in the Rapture.

While I do not doubt that at all - I think there is another degenerative disease infecting America right now, and that is competitiveness through EDUCATION.

I teach at the university level. I have roughly 50% of my class that:

-cannot write properly;

-cannot spell;

-are lazy and cannot turn work in before deadlines;

-do not read messages;

-and my favorite... ignore school and class policy.

Because of this, the U.S. has lost it's academic and technological competitive edge. We are being quickly surpassed and soon, dwarfed, by the academic and competitive spirit of other countries, such as India and China. So, what is left of the U.S. after the Rapture, is going to be a population that doesn't have the smarts to fight off, well, anything.
