Do you remember our last show on Health Alerts? Well, here's an update we will always address the health alerts every few months. What are the latest health alerts? Well, you may be surprised to know that there are many alerts and warnings that are issued almost daily. However, what do you personally know about these alerts? The Food Drug Administration and the Consumer Healthcare Products Association is voluntarily modifying the product labels for consumers of over the counter (OTC) cough and cold medicines to state "do not use" in children under 4 years of age. FDA supports CHPA members to help prevent and reduce misuse and to better inform consumers about the safe and effective use of these products for children. Among the over-the-counter medications coming off the market are Johnson & Johnson’s Tylenol Plus Cold, Novartis AG’s Triaminic Infant & Toddler Thin Strips Decongestant, and one product sold by Wyeth under its Robitussin brand. Pediacare, Dimetapp and Little Colds brand products are also being recalled. The voluntary recall does not affect over-the-counter cold and cough medications marketed for older children.
More so other products have been recalled. Listen now to the show and for further information you can write to me at drkirnon@aim.com. Be sure to join us live next week for another Health & Wellness show. Have a healthy week!
