Kendrick Meek learned the value of public service as a child. However, it was as a parent that he realized the affects of decisions made by government on society as a whole - including kindergartners. Kenrick's mission has always been this: To use his talents to serve his community. In 2002 Meek was elected Representative for the 17th Congressional District of Florida, which includes parts of Miami-Dade and Broward County. He was elected to his fourth term in the U.S. House in 2008. Currently, Kendrick Meek is the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate. Also joining the panel is Catherine Minnis. Catherine has served in several community advocate positions: Coordinator of the "Build a Better Bond" program, United Way of Miami-Dade, The American Cancer Society, and Board Examiner with the Florida Sterling Council. In her more recent service, Minnis worked as the Director of Community Outreach for the 2010 South Florida Superbowl Host Committee. Catherine currently serves as President of the National Black MBA Association - South Florida Chapter and a member of many other community boards.
