     Just thinking about making telephone calls makes some people sick. I make them for years, and still do. 

    Lots of them. 

    How about you?

    Do you struggle to pick up the phone or do you do it with a smile on your face knowing you are going to get a great response from your calls?

    Well- maybe you fall in the struggle group and are looking for reasons why that this is happening. You start making phone calls, and then after a couple of NOs, you start getting that lump in your throat and soon- you cannot talk. The emotion you are feeling has taken over and you simply cannot pick up the phone.

    But yet- you WANT to make more phone calls, but just cannot seem to get it done.

    Why is this happening?

    Let’s take a look at 5 Psychological reasons that may be in play here, and what you can do about it.


    1)  The Fear of Feeling Inadequate.

    Many people feel that after they get a couple of Nos, they are becoming inadequate. They feel that they simply do not have what it takes to create success in their business. The Nos have made them feel that they lack something. Well- here is what you need to understand.

    You are NOT inadequate. You MUST got through a certain number of Nos. that is just the way it is. I had to get a certain number of Nos and everyone else must as well. Just know that you have EVERYTHING you need to succeed in this business. Nos are just a part of the business that we all went through. It is natural to get more Nos in the beginning then later. You get better. You become stronger and more confident.

    So hang in there . You will start to see great results soon enough.


    2)  Being Influenced by Other People’s Emotions.

    Many people that make calls are hanging on to other people’s emotions that they carry and believe are true. Many people dislike making phone calls. And they very innocently influence you into believing it is hard, they are a waste of time, and all you are doing is bothering people.

    That is simply not true. With every phone call, you carry with you a possible solution with you that can help people and make a difference in their life. Every phone call can be a transforming moment for folks. You are NOT bothering them. You are simply seeing if they are someone you can help or not.


    3)  Not Knowing what to Say - Paralyzes you.

    There is nothing more paralyzing then knowing that you don’t know what to do- but yet you are expected to perform. This can create a feeling of massive fear and massive doubt.

    Why does this happen?

    Most of the time, you can get ore telephone training on a Verizon commercial than you do with a Network Marketing company. Most do not train on what to say or do on the phone. You need to ROLE PLAY to build your knowledge and confidence. You need PRACTICE and more practice. This will help you get past being paralyzed. And knowing what to say is something that you MUST learn, and we have many trainings to teach you.


    4) The Feeling of Disappointing Yourself.

    Many times, people will hesitate making phone calls because they do not want to disappoint themselves. They many times berate themselves and ask they cannot do this business.

    Why do they feel disappointed?

    Because they compare themselves to others that are having different results. That is a good way to push yourself out of this business. What you need to do is simple. Quit comparing yourself to anyone as you walk your own path in this business. And do NOT feel disappointed you made a phone call and it did not go so well.

    YOU are NOT in charge of results. You are only in charge at getting better at making phone calls. The results will come quicker than you think.


    5) You are Not Really Serious about this Business.

    Most people that get into this business are NOT that serious. They are what I call “tire kickers.” Most people get into this business to “Try it out,” and to ‘See what happens.” And because of that- people FEEL that from you and react accordingly.

    Would YOU let a dentist that is not really serious about what he does to work on your teeth? Would you let a mechanic that is not serious at what he does work on the car that carries your children? How about letting a doctor recommend medical advice when you are sick and really is not at all serious about what she is recommending?

    Hello!

    So you are not going to be taken serious as well as a professional with that kind of focus. If you are just “trying” this business as most are that are IN this business, people will feel it, and treat you accordingly. People want to talk to someone that is serious, not someone that is just kicking tires.

    Get serious and you  results will change as well as your telephone calls.

    For MLM and Network Marketing -Remember the 8 track?

    Ok..some of you do not. But a lot of us do as it was the rage at one time. Everyone had a honking big 8 track player.

    But then…came the cassette. And that totally changed everything.

    And then came the DAT tape. That changed how their music was heard and improved quality.

    THEN…came the CD!  This revolutionized the sound quality and the portability of the music you listened to.

    But then–taa daaaaaa! Cam the mp3! THAT was rocking hot and changed how we listened to our audios and music. And yes, folks like napster showed up and kind of muddied the waters.

    And NOW- comes the IPOD from Apple. You can listen to what you want by transferring it to your IPOD and bam! You are now a one person music machine.

    And you know…if all of us stuck with the 8 track recorder today, we would be MISSING out on much better quality of music and a much netter delivery system of audio. THAT would be ridiculous would it not?

    Well…I have some not so good news for the most of the industry.

    Most distributors and consultants in Network Marketing are working their business with an 8 track focus in an IPOD world.

    How?

    By not changing and engaging the Social Media and New Marketing strategies that are so powerful today. Less than 5 % of the industry are working actively social media like they need to be doing. Nothing wrong with doing three ways, and in home meetings, and hotel meetings. They do work- but not as powerfully as they used to.

    Things have changed.

    You MUST start looking towards a social media presence as that is where people -who are looking for YOU- are located and it is growing bigger everyday.

    You need to start learning how to do social marketing with your home business and how to engage it with the right strategies and focus. Yes, we can teach you how, but there are some GREAT trainings out on the web as well. We have literally hundreds of trainings on this social media topic.

    Social Media Marketing Training- The 2 Things Everyone is Looking For in Social Media

    Social Media marketing --When you think about it, there are only 2 things that people are looking for in Social Media. It does not matter if you are in real estate, mortgage banking, insurance, or even in marketing of some type.

    People are always looking for something.

    You just need to make sure that you know what those things are.

    The Early Social Media Adopters.

    Most people in the Social Media arena are progressive thinkers and progressive people. Most are ahead of the curve in the web 2.0 world, and most have a focus of being ahead of the pack. The early adopters of Social Media, which I am one, started on the Social media scene 5 years ago. There is not much there, but what was there, was used as best as it could be used.

    People then, and people now, are still the same. They always will be. But in the Social media arena, they are looking for 2 things that will help them.

    Help them feel better about whom they are. Help them feel better about what they do. And help them feel better about where their life is going.

    All people are in some way looking for that forward focus. That is why in the social scene, there are 2 things people seem to be seeking more than anything.

    Only two.


    1) CONNECTION.

    Most people in Web 2.0 ville are looking for Connection. They want to connect with people, information, new ideas, new trainings, new events, new groups, new videos, but whatever they are looking for, they want to CONNECT.

    Connection is part of the culture we grew up in. People in real estate understand the person want to feel emotionally connected to a house before they purchase it. People want to feel connected to a car before they decide to buy it.

    And people want to feel connected to something before they start building that bridge of trust with you. You must make an effort to connect in a way that they will respond to in social media.

    IN Social Media Marketing, Connection is NOT Correction as so many people think. They are NOT looking to be told that their life is not any good, or is lacking. They are not looking to be told their home is too small for them. They want to Connect to something or someone that will make them feel better about themselves and where their life is headed. You do that in conversations on twitter, Facebook, MySpace, orkut, moli, LinkedIn, and the like.

    They want to feel GOOD about a conversation with you, no matter the social network. They want to feel FOCUSED ON and Tied into a conversation that will help them feel more a part of something that can increase and enlarge their life and future.

    CONNECTING with people is simply reaching out and taking their hand over the internet and letting them feel PLUGGED IN to something and someone that can help you connect to new possibilities and to new destinies.

    THAT is simple and the truth. Keep the Connection authentic and real, and they will listen to what your conversation is about and start drawing closer to you and your message.


    2) Elevation.

    People want to feel like they are being lifted higher in their life. They want to feel like their life is going somewhere and means something. We all do. We all are looking for that special feeling that we are special, and as trite as that sounds, it is the truth.

    What can you do to create that feeling that they truly believe they are walking on air?

    Life them up by noticing something g they said that has helped you.


    Compliment them.

    Give them a kind remark about their efforts in what they are doing in Social Media.

    Ask questions they might know the answer to show you appreciate their knowledge..

    Send them new ideas on their passion.

    Notice something about their conversation that you can totally appreciate and let them know about it.

    Empower them with encouragement.

    Thank them for learning something from them.

    WHY?

    It will make them glad they talked to you in Social Media. And they will remember you the next message, tweet, or conversation. They will move from the Awareness stage, to the Appreciation stage in Social Media.

    As a realtor, insurance agent, or even entrepreneur,you will see that they can start to trust you, and even start referring possible clients to you as people they know are moving out or into - your area.

    Remember- it is NOT what you said. But how you made them feel by Connecting with them and Elevating their hope and future in the Social media Marketing arena.
