The legacy of The Eternal Light lives to brighten our lives.  By the mid-1950s, the program had an audience of more than six million weekly on radio and television.

The Eternal Light, produced in conjunction with the Jewish Theological Seminary, featured interviews, commentary, and award-winning dramas from the perspective of Judaism, It began on radio in 1944 and continued as a weekly radio program through 1989.

This morning, in the same 10:30 a.m. radio time slot in which the original programs were broadcast, The Chosen Radio presents a short story by Stephen Vincent Benet, “Jacob and the Indians,” adapted for radio by Morton Wishengrad.

This is a story about Jewish contributions to the building of America, before, during and after the Revolutionary War. Following the story, narrated by Hollywood actor Raymond Massey, Philadelphia Rabbi D.A.
