Getting ready to face the future, no matter what it might bring, should be an adventure of learning and experimentation. An integral part of a positive future focused life is making provisions for a time when things might not be as they have been. You want to make such activities a part of your everyday lifestyle, and make them enjoyable. Some things may not go well in the beginning. If you look at that with the wrong attitude, you will consider it to be a waste of time and money. Thats definitely the wrong attitude and it will not serve you well. The cost of a good education has always been time and money. Invest the time and money now, while you can still afford it. Your returns will be beyond anything you can get anyplace else. Brought to you by Safe Harbor Alliance Guest Profile: Lauri Pratt has her MBA, but has been interested in being prepared for difficult times as far back as she can remember. Lauri grew up on a small family farm and it was natural for her to participate in 4H. As she was growing up, family farming was in decline and her father took on a full time job to care for household needs. Her disappointment is that she did not get a chance to really learn how do all that was necessary to live on the farm. As an adult she moved off the farm, got married and raised three children. Single now, and the children gone, she acquired the family farm in the fall of 2006. The farmhouse is showing its age and there are many things to fix and work around. During the years away from the farm and caring for a family, having the proper place for everything and paying attention to home decorating seemed right. Now shes too busy learning how to make naturally leavened bread and harvest wool to turn into clothing. These are some of the activities that have become adventures in personal and family preparation.
