Self -Reliant Living bySafe Harbor Alliance, hosted by Jim Phillips. Kent Scott Primitive Survival Skills We can look to the people and civilizations of both the near and distant past to learn of tools, skills, attitudes and ways of living that can help us on our journey. Some of what can be learned is not really so out of date and has application in our everyday life. This is especially true about attitudes concerning lifestyle. At no time is this more true than during disasters or times when our lives have been totally disrupted and thrown into disarray by unexpected events. In our day and time, with some of the extraordinary materials and tools at our disposal, it is easy to discount things from the past. Yet there are tools, skills, ways of doing things and ways of thinking that can be adapted to each of our lives. Some of these will save your life when things get really tough. Guest Profile: Kent Scott is a long time friend and associate who has a very diverse background in science and technology, plus an understanding of how and why things work. He is a consultant who has developed many unusual solutions to a wide variety of issues. He has an eye toward and experience in self-reliance, which is: find a way to fix it, build it, replace it, turn up a substitute or learn how to do just fine without it. In short, he is a creative innovator of solutions that are often outside of the box. He has also provided logistics support, field training and remote guide skills for wilderness programs that take challenged youth into remote primitive areas for therapeutic doses of reality about what it really takes to live. 11 15
